Venice update

So, here's some interesting updates on Venice...

Diana signed her up for preschool, which starts in the fall (we may pursue a summer session as well, but we'll see if a) there's room, and b) Venice is potty trained, etc.). This will be at the Rocklin Montessori Preschool, which is close by. Diana has visited and had the tour, etc., and it's really nice. Quiet, clean, fun, and an approach we like.

The interesting thing that came out of this is motivation for potty training. Venice was really excited by the school, but Di told her she couldn't go until she was potty trained. I can't recall the exact chain of events, but basically Venice got motivated, and wanted to try, so they went into the bathroom, and she went! Yea!

Venice has tried a few times since as well, and we're excited that this is hopefully the start of potty training. Venice has been wearing "pull-ups" diapers for a couple weeks now (only during the day as they don't stay on as well), which she loves, and I think they help too (she knows how to put them on and take them off).

Veince's First Movie Experience

We took Venice to see "The Incredibles" tonight. It was the first time we'd taken her to the big theater. We saw the 3:45pm showing (which didn't start until 4pm of course, but she liked the previews :). I had been nervous that she'd be scared of the big theater, etc., but nope. We got popcorn, hotdog, drink, etc.

Venice made it through to 5:15pm, when for some reason she got really scared. The movie was probably a tad heavy for her, but the scene she got scared of really surprised us (it wasn't real violent or scary in particular). Of course, not the ideal time of night either, but hey. Anyway, I took her out, and she calmed down soon
after. We all left (after a brief time trying to find each other). All in all, it was actually very good, I'm glad she made it that long, and at that time of night, etc.

Next up will be some G rated movie (Incredibles is PG), probably the new Winnie the Pooh or Di says there's some shark movie out right now.

Hope you all had a good weekend. Mom and Dad, good talking to you today, and we'll look forward ot seeing you in December!

-Chris
