Venice's big wish

Today, Venice says with confidence, "I wish that every day the time between breakfast and dinner was shorter. That way the days would go faster." She paused while we were wondering, why she would want wish such a thing? Before we could ask her to explain, she added, "Except for birthdays." We all laughed.

Venice cares for Kitty

We were taking the cat to the vet, yesterday, and she wasn't happy about it at all. She meowed the entire drive and evoked much empathy from the kids and myself. I kept telling the cat, "It's ok, we love you. We're here. The vet is nice." and such. Then after a while of not saying anything. Venice started to talk to the cat herself. She said, "When I went to the ear doctor, I was scared too. But the next time I went, I was all settled. Maybe the next time you go to the vet, you'll be happier." Touched my heart to have her identify her past experiences to the cat's current experience.

Xander spits it out

I came into the kitchen the other day and found Xander on a chair at the counter near the candy bowl. There was some 'rejected' food on the counter. I looked at him and at the food. He looked at me and proudly proclaimed, "I spit it out, Mommy!" I asked him what it was. He didn't answer. I asked him, "Where did you get the food?" I was expecting him to point to the candy bowl. Instead, he pointed to the kitty treat jar. No wonder he spit it out. Yucko!

Self Sufficient

Today I left Xander inside watching TV (The Wiggles) while Venice and I played outside in the court. After about 10 minutes, I went inside to check on Xander. He had been pretty tired all day, so I wondered if he would be asleep. To my suprise, I found him at the kitchen table. He had opened the refrigerator, gotten out the tupperware of watermelon and was eating watermelon. I should not have worried! He is very self sufficient these days!
