It's illegal to sleep all day.

I was tired this morning and let the alarm snooze one time. But I knew I had to get up. Xander was with me in bed and I said, "If I don't get up, I might sleep all day." Xander replied, "You don't want to go to jail." "What?" I asked. He said, "It's illegal to sleep all day, you could go to jail." What a good motivator to get out of bed!

Surprise Gift

I woke up this morning when Venice ran into the bedroom and gave me a big hug. She said, "you are the best mom in the whole world." She ran back out saying she and Xander were getting something ready for me. A few minutes later, she and Xander came back into my room with a wrapped gift. I opened it up and it was a homemade bookmark and some floss from the dentist all decorated with stickers. Pretty nice way to wake up to the morning!

Heights

As you may remember, I am measuring the kids every now and then....here is the latest.

These are rough in two ways. I am not sure that the kids were standing the same way and that I had marked their height appropriately.
Second, when I measured the heights and the distances between them, I was using slightly crude methods. So the overall effect is right, but the exactness is not......

Casey, was disappointed that he had grown so little....everyone else seemed happy with their results.

Playing Piano

Last week, Casey and Venice were humming a song (that you would all recognize, but I can't recall)

Anyway, Venice sat down at the piano to pick out the notes....they hummed the melody, then she would try to replicate it. She got the first few notes in a couple tries, but couldn't get the last three or four notes as they came down and she didn't go down far enuf.

But they valiantly hummed, she played, Casey encouraged...and by gum,...they got it...
An once they got it, they were done!!

Very charming.
